GRANT WRITING TIPS
LOOKING FOR
SOMETHING?
Be sure that your project:

* Is an appropriate match to the funding priorities of  
   the grant giver.
* Presents information that the project is a   
substantial and essential component of your  
programming.
* Occurs within the geographic area as required by      
   the grant giver.  
* Is necessary in your community at this time.
Your Text and Language

* Write in concise language.
* Site statistics appropriately.
* Number all of your pages.
* Align the outcomes and measurements properly.  
* Write in third person.
Attachments

* Be sure all attachments are properly titled and have
   sufficient labeling.
* Include relevant materials.  
* Be sure that all resumes and biographical                  
   information is current.  
Budgets

* Make sure your Projected Budgets are realistic.
* Double check the math.
* Be able to support Projected Expenses with            
   estimates from actual sources.
Notes

* Define the project's objectives.
* Identify other sources of funding that will sustain  
   the project.
* Convey the community's need and enthusiasm for
   the project.
* Explain each individual's role in the project.
* Present the organization's history in an interesting
   format.
* Present the Project's Timeline.
* Identify Project Objectives and Impact on the        
   Community Served.
* Clearly establish a compelling problem or need.
* Explain how project success will be monitored.
